Tax Collection and Licensing Division
The purpose of the Tax Collection and Licensing Division is to collect taxes on real property and personal property such as boats, aircraft, and business fixtures and equipment as required by the State of California; to regulate businesses operating in the unincorporated area of Sacramento County to promote improved enforcement of ordinances that protect the public and prevent nuisances and neighborhood disturbances; and file Fictitious Business Name Statements (FBN) on behalf of the County Clerk-Recorder.
Tax Collection & Licensing Specialists are available for customer assistance Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Fictitious Business Name Statement Effective July 28, 2025
Effective July 28, 2025, Florence Evans will be the Sacramento County Clerk/Recorder and our office will no longer accept forms with Donna Allred noted as the Clerk/Recorder. Filings submitted by mail must be received no later than August 8, 2025, to be accepted. Submissions received after this deadline will be returned unprocessed.
Business Licensing & Fictitious Names Fee Increases July 1, 2025
The Tax Collector urges customers to submit payment for property taxes via mail, online, or by telephone.
Please make your Property tax payment by the due date as stated on the tax bill.
A delinquency penalty will be charged at the close of the delinquency date.
