BOARD/COMMISSION:  Governors Committee on the Safety, Health, and Wellbeing of Agricultural and Food Processing Workers 2024

Members of the Committee shall include the following:

1. Department of Agriculture (MDA) Commissioner or designee,
2. Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Commissioner or designee,
3. Department of Health (MDH) Commissioner or designee,
4. Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) Commissioner or designee,
5. Minnesota Housing Finance Agency (MHFA) Commissioner or designee,
6. Department of Education (MDE) Commissioner or designee,
7. United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 663, Director of Organizing or their designee,
8. Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (SMLRS), AWP Project Manager or their designee,
9. Unidos MN, Executive Director or their designee,
10. Hispanic Advocacy and Community Empowerment Through Research (HACER) Executive Director or designee,
11. Minnesota Farm Bureau President or designee,
12. Minnesota Farmers Union President or designee.

The duties of the Commitee are as follows:

1. Identify and engage leaders, experts, practitioners, and representatives of employers and workers who can inform discussion of strategies and plans necessary to achieve the Commitee’s objectives.
2. Direct, oversee, and implement stakeholder engagement, focusing on the engagement of agricultural and food processing workers and employers necessary to implement the Committee’s objectives.
3. Submit regular reports to the Governor, at frequencies determined by the Co‐Chairs, that provide updates on progress toward achieving the Committee’s objectives.
4. Submit annual written reports, in December, to the Governor setting forth how the Committee’s objectives will be achieved.
5. Communicate recommendations within member networks, organizations, and associations.
