Establish, maintain, and execute an internal controls plan to prevent and detect errors, fraud, and abuse. Ensure that processes are robust and aligned with division objectives. Ensure compliance with legislation as well as other state policies, regulations, and procedures. Collaborate with stakeholders to address compliance issues and protect sensitive information. Build and maintain relationships with peers in other states to share learnings and stay current on best practices, areas of risk, and possible federal legislation. Oversee efforts to detect and investigate fraudulent activities related to program benefits. Work to recover funds lost due to fraud. Partner internally to usher claims through required actions in response to appeal decisions, and highlight process, systems, or training opportunities to make sure we get things right the next time.

Conduct outreach out to schools, developing relationships with school staff, and recruiting students who may be eligible for Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS). Identify student needs related to Job Exploration Counseling, Work-Based Learning Experience, Postsecondary Education Counseling, Workplace Readiness Training, and/or Instruction in Self-Advocacy. Coordinate and implement services for students who need Pre-ETS and who meet other requirements as specified in the Rehabilitation Services Act of 1973, as amended by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. Refer students to Pre-ETS contractors for services as needed. Maintain case records for each participant. Develop, manage, and expend case service funds.

Work with state agency leaders to address and achieve the One Minnesota Workforce Shortage goal of reducing the state’s job vacancy rate. Play an integral project management role, convening leaders from state agencies with workforce development services to identify strategies to align workforce development programs across the state public workforce development system. This work aims to improve the state's job vacancy rate, increase the diversity of the labor force, and ensure the system is responsive to our continuously changing economy and workforce needs. Support collaboration through various mediums, including meetings, reports, and newsletters.

Specialize in fiscal knowledge/skills and process numerous financial documents, following purchasing procedures, paying of purchase orders, and authorizations. This position requires attention to detail and accuracy as it supports the participant’s employment plan by coordinating the purchasing of goods and services. Additionally, provide fiscal support for vocational counselors and other staff on the team including referral information for other required services for participants or potential participants.

The following benefits are available to any state employee whose appointment is at least six months long, whether temporary or permanent.
