Applications Open for IMLS Native Hawaiian Library Services and Native American Library Services Enhancement Grants

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) announces applications are open for the Native Hawaiian Library Services and Native American Library Services Enhancement Grant programs. IMLS recognizes the essential role of Native Communities' libraries and cultural organizations as trusted centers of knowledge and community engagement. These institutions are critical in advancing literacy, health, workforce development, and the preservation and revitalization of culture and language. The deadline for submitting applications for both grants is April 1, 2025.

Native Hawaiian Library Services Grants are available to nonprofit organizations that primarily serve and represent Native Hawaiians. These competitive grants, awarded in amounts up to $150,000 for one to two years, are designed to develop, enhance, or disseminate practices, programs, models, tools, or staff training to strengthen library and archival services with Kānaka Maoli.

Native American Library Services Enhancement Grants advance the programs and services of eligible Native American Tribes, including Alaska Native villages, regional corporations, and village corporations. These competitive grants, awarded in amounts up to $150,000, are designed to develop, enhance, or disseminate practices, programs, models, tools, or library staff training to strengthen library and archival services for Federally recognized Tribes, including Alaska Native villages, regional corporations, and village corporations.
