What this job is about
As a Budget Advisor to the Governor, you analyze budgets, make budget recommendations to the Governor and present the Governor’s budget proposal to the Governor, Office of Financial Management (OFM) Director, OFM’s Executive team, state agencies, stakeholders and the Legislature. You are the subject matter expert who analyzes budget requests and develops budget proposals to meet the governor’s objectives.
The Budget division performs an ongoing role in the planning, analysis, and implementation of the state’s operating and capital budgets. We have the primary responsibility for making budget recommendations to the Governor and presenting the Governor’s budget proposal to the Legislature and the public. Learn more: OFM Budget Division

In June of 2020, King County and Public Health declared Racism is a Public Health Crisis, building on the very important work of Dr. Camara Phyllis Jones. The Black Community Equity Team was created to confront longstanding, systemic health inequities experienced by the Black community living in King County.
Our approach: Build through listening to the Black community and creating relationships. Create new ways of doing business. Improve access to health care and health-supporting services for Black people. Focus on Blacks living in King County where there are inter-generational, persistent health disparities.
What the Team is doing today? Listening to the voices of the community Community Partnerships with community grants Bringing health services to the community Developing a Black Providers Network Developing a new outreach location at the Skyway Resource Center
Additional community organizations are collaborating to bring services in areas that have been historically under-served, with a special focus on Skyway and Federal Way.

Who was he? Benjamin Banneker (1731-1806) was an African American mathematician, astronomer, and surveyor best known for his work on the design of Washington, D.C. and his almanacs: the first scientific books written by an African American in the U.S. Included were weather data, recipes, medical remedies, poems, and anti-slavery essays. They became the popular, main reference for farmers in the Mid-Atlantic states.

In 1866, Congress passed two significant pieces of legislation: the Civil Rights Act of 1866 and the authorization for freed Black men to serve in the United States military. Join us for a discussion along the American history trail, led by a dynamic group of educators. Today, “We the People” continue to shape the trail.
