In 2020, Ramona Hood was named CEO of Federal Express (FedEx). She is the first Black woman in the company's history to hold the position.
She began working at FedEx as a college student in 1991 when the company was still the called Roberts Express. A native of Akron, Ohio, Hood earned a BA degree in business management from Walsh University and an Executive MBA from Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. She worked in several departments at FedEx including operations, safety, sourcing, and sales and marketing. In 2010 and 2016, she received the FedEx Five Star award, the highest recognition employees can receive at the company.
As president and CEO, Hood managed a team of more than 150 people responsible for managing and coordinating shipments of raw materials and finished goods across North America. Less than two months after her appointment, the COVID-19 pandemic shut down most supply chains and FedEx became increasingly vital in the delivery of goods and supplies.
Hood retired from FedEx in July 2024 and now serves on the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank board of directors.
