• Restricted Species Permit Amendment for Transgenic Species - At its April 2025 meeting, the Commission is expected to consider an application from the University of California San Diego for an amendment to a restricted species permit, which would allow UCSD to import, possess, transport or rear, or conduct research on two transgenic marine aquatic species: painted urchins and sea squirts. Pursuant to California Fish and Game Code and Commission regulations, the Commission may deny the issuance of a permit if it finds that an applicant is or will be unable to meet all regulatory requirements.
