Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Lake County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)!  The goal of the MRC is to increase the health care surge capacity of the county and support the existing health care system in the event of a major emergency or event and to support local public health needs.

Community health is an everyday concern. In a disaster, everyone wants to help. Pre-registering as a volunteer and gaining community service experience means you will be ready to answer the call in a meaningful way after any emergency.

Activities for Volunteers

  • Emergency preparedness and response training and exercises
  • Disaster medical and behavioral health support
  • Community vaccination clinics
  • Non-medical and medical support during large public gatherings
  • Community education and outreach

Medical Reserve Corps volunteers include medical and behavioral health professionals as well as those without healthcare backgrounds who want to improve the health and safety of our community. Volunteers are offered free training opportunities including CPR, first aid, Stop the Bleed and many more.

Volunteers need to be 18 years old to apply.  Once you complete this short application, you'll be contacted requesting your approval for a background check at no cost to you.

After joining the MRC, Level 1 training requirements should be completed within the first 3 months (done online, approximately 3 hours long).  Once training is completed an MRC ID will be provided and should be worn during MRC activities.  There are no volunteer time requirements - we welcome you to volunteer as much or as little as your schedule permits.

Please find our most recent quarterly newsletter to learn more about our regular activities.  (Please note that only MRC volunteers will have access to the sign up links.)

About Us

The mission of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is to engage volunteers to strengthen public health, emergency response and community resiliency.

MRC units are community-based and function as a way to locally organize and utilize volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies and promote healthy living throughout the year. MRC volunteers supplement existing emergency and public health resources.
