Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)

> Updated March 28, 2025

Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) has been confirmed in Spokane and Pend Oreille Counties, Game Management Units 124 and 117. On March 24, 2025, the WDFW director approved a rule requiring that, if you harvest a deer, elk, or moose in WDFW's Eastern Region (100 series GMUs), you are required to submit the whole head with at least three inches of neck attached, or extracted lymph nodes prior to leaving WDFW's Eastern Region, to WDFW within five days of harvest. The rule goes into effect May 17, 2025. Click here for more information about the disease, how to have your animal tested, and WDFW's CWD Management Plan.

Yakama Nation Tract D

Highlighted on the map in red/orange is a portion of the Yakama Nation Indian Reservation known as "Tract D." Recently, a federal court ruled that Tract D is within the exterior boundary of the Yakama Nation. While there are no changes to the 2023-24 state hunting regulations within Tract D, please be extra cognizant that Tract D is within the Yakama Nation reservation. As with all landownerships and jurisdictions, hunting is a privilege and we remind you to please be respectful of landowners’ posted access requirements.

Welcome to the New Hunt Planner Webmap!

We've made a lot of improvements and modified the layout. If you had used the previous version, or are new to the webmap, the list below will help you get started.

> Map tools (e.g., toggling layers) are all in the top left-hand corner. Click the icon to expand the corresponding tool.
> In the Layer List and Legend tool , toggle layer visibility with the 'eye' icon , toggle the layer legend with the icon
> Instead of having to build search criteria every time, all hunt opportunities are returned when you click on the map.
> For identifying units where certain opportunities exist, use the 'Highlight Units' function. You can also filter results based on your criteria.
> Clicking on a Regulation will highlight the unit and remove the clicked location (red pin) from the map.
