The Project AWARE State Team is excited to announce the availability of Educator Mental Health and Wellness Mini-Grants. These competitive mini-grants aim to enhance educator mental health and well-being.
The purpose of the mini-grants is to implement innovative initiatives that enhance educator mental health/wellness within LEAs (local education agency) in partnership with mental health providers, community mental health centers, community organizations OR school mental health staff members (counselors, social workers, psychologists). DMHA intends to award at least 10 mini-grants for funding of up to $5,000 each. A maximum of one proposal may be submitted per LEA. Proposed mini-grant activities must occur during the mini-grant time period.
Application Requirements: completed application and supporting documents MUST be submitted together:

Description of the proposed initiative.

Detailed implementation plan.

Detailed budget outlining the planned use of grant funds.

Desired impact to enhance educator mental health and wellness within the LEA.

Description of educator mental health and wellness needs within your school/district.

Explanation of how the initiatives will be implemented in collaboration with mental health providers, community mental health centers, and/or community organizations OR with the support of school mental health staff members (counselors, social workers, psychologists).

If mental health providers, community mental health centers, and/or community organizations are applying, a letter of support from the LEA is required.

If school mental health staff members are applying, a letter of support from a local mental health provider is required.

Application Process:
- Notice of Educator Mental Health and Wellness Mini-Grants opportunity will be sent out on November 6, 2024.
- Interested applicants must complete and submit an application by 5 PM EST, December 6, 2024.
- Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee.
- Award or Denial Letter notifications will be released via email to grant applicants by January 3, 2025.
- Grant recipients will be able to submit claims for reimbursement to support activities and purchases outlined in the application starting on February 1, 2025. All activities and purchases must take place before September 29, 2025. Contract start date is tentative based on federal grant award and contract negotiation timeline.
- Grant recipients will be required to submit a brief interim report and a final report outlining the activities conducted, number of educators who benefited from the grant, and the outcomes achieved by October 29, 2025.

Allowable expenses include, but are not limited to:

Self care items for staff wellness spaces.

Journals, candles, coloring books, art and design materials, bath bombs, lotion, sports equipment, wellness books, aromatherapy diffusers

Compassion fatigue workshops, staff community circles led by a licensed mental health professional, wellness coaching, positive nutrition lessons by a licensed dietician or medical professional.

Lessons and materials for: pilates, yoga, sound bath meditation, zumba, art/design.

Staff community building activities.
Funding Restrictions:
