Energy Assistance

We believe the ability to pay heating and cooling bills should not prevent anyone from being safe and comfortable in their home

Energy assistance for most customers is now closed for the season. If you are a Puget Sound Energy (PSE) customer, we continue to process PSE Help assistance. If you are not a PSE customer, we encourage you to sign up when the new program year begins.

Sign ups begin Tuesday, September 16, for households who have members 60 and older, under the age 6 or who have disabilities.

 

All other sign ups will begin Tuesday, November 4.

2024-2025 Income
Guidelines

The definition of "Net Monthly Income" is determined by program policies. If you have questions about income eligibility, please call the HopeSource office (509-925-1448) and ask to speak with the Energy Assistance Department.

What Happens After You Apply:

  • Once your name gets to the top of the waitlist, you will be contacted by our team to schedule your intake appointment. This may take up to 3 months. Appointments can be virtual or in-person

  • Once your appointment has been schedued, all required documents will need to be submitted within 7 days.

    Required Documents 

    • Photo ID (for everyone in the household over the age of 18)

    • Social Security Card (cards or proof of citizenship or legal status for everyone in the household)

    • Income Statements (for last month for everyone in the household 18 years or older)

    • Energy Bill (utility company, propane provider, etc.)

    • 24-hour/final shut-off notice (if applicable)

    • Physical Address Verification (can be current bill if your name is on the account)

  • Your intake appointment will be a brief meeting with one of our energy program specialists. At this time, they will review all required documents, get to know your specific energy needs, and determine program eligibility.

    Note that failure to provide the requested documentation will result in the termination of your application and the need to reapply.

  • After your appointment and all documents are received, you will sign your award letter and payment will be dispersed to your utility or fuel provider.

    On average it takes 4-8 weeks from the date you sign the final form to the date it appears on your utility bill as a credit.
