Oklahoma clinics receive $920K for expanded hours

The (HRSA) announced nearly $920,000 in funding for three Oklahoma community serving over 67,300 residents. This investment will expand operating hours, allowing for early morning, evening and weekend access to care.

The funding will support clinical and administrative staff, ensuring more accessible healthcare for uninsured, underinsured and Medicaid patients. aim to reduce reliance on costly urgent care and emergency visits, addressing challenges such as taking children to the doctor after work or accessing timely weekend appointments.

HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra emphasized the importance of equitable care, stating, “No one should have to delay or skip a trip to the doctor because of work or school.”

HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson added, “Having the option to get to the doctor before or after work or on the weekend not only helps families get the care they need, but it also helps relieve some of the stress and burden on families trying to arrange care.”

Oklahoma health centers receiving funding include: , Tishomingo – $500,000; , Stigler – $145,108; and , Hulbert – $274,461.

HRSA-supported centers provide primary care to over 31 million patients nationwide, with 90% earning below 200% of the Federal Level.
