Sat., May 3rd: Celebrate the Cinco de Mayo spirit to the revolutionary sounds of the Beatles with contagious Latin beats: Cumbia, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa, Bolero, danzón, Reggaeton, Latin Rock and more. What's Cinco de Mayo all about?: On May 5th, 1862, Napoleon III sent 1,000 French troops into Puebla, Mexico as part an effort to establish a French satellite state. Mexican General Zaragoza and his outnumbered force of mostly mestizo (mixed blooded Native-Spanish) locals and Native Zapotec fighters defeated them. Though not the end of the war, the Battle of Puebla became a symbol of Mexican resistance and independence. Join us for food, fun and music at one of Silver Spring's best local music hubs, El Golfo. Viva la musica!

Join Los Day Trippers and other artists dedicated to creating a healthy planet at Earth Day Every Day. Dance, sing along or just groove to Los Day Trippers at 1:20PM. And, take the afternoon to explore live music, an arts market, environmental booths and kids' activities from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. The festival takes place on Langston Boulevard in in front of the Lee Heights Shops in Arlington, VA. General parking: Dorothy Hamm Middle School, 4100 Vacation Lane. Los Day Trippers brings its uniquely cool Latin-Beatles fusion to Jazz at the Met. Groove into the early evening in this free outdoor concert series at one of National Landing’s newest park spaces, Metropolitan Park, on October 24th, from 4:30-6:30pm, with a short break at 5:15. Bring a picnic or some carry-out from area restaurants and pick a spot on the green (chairs welcome.) Presented by the DC Jazz Festival and National Landing BID. We're back to where it all began with more Fab Four tunes set to infectious Latin rhythms at Silver Spring's popular Mexican restaurant and local musical hub, El Golfo Restaurant.
