Thank you for nominating an outstanding teacher for the 2026-27 Michigan Teacher of the Year program.

Each year the Michigan Teacher of the Year program, through a competitive application process, selects ten Regional Teacher of the Year honorees. Each Regional Teacher of the Year interviews to become the 2026-27 Michigan Teacher of the Year and works collectively throughout the school year as a member of the Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council (MTLAC).

Before you complete the following form, please note the eligibility requirements:

• Nominee holds a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
• Nominee has completed at least five successful years of teaching experience in Michigan.
• Nominee works directly with students in their current role.
• Nominee has not served as a Regional Teacher of the Year in the previous three years.
• Nominee is recommended by someone other than self. 
• Nominee is a PreK-12th grade educator.

Nominations will be accepted from May 2025 until Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Please email questions to MTOY@Michigan.gov.  All eligible nominees will be invited to apply for 2026-27 Michigan Teacher of the Year.
