Current and upcoming fishing opportunities:

Angling for summer steelhead and sockeye is currently slow.
Shad are still running through the lower Columbia River, and fishing is good.
Walleye fishing is excellent in the John Day Pool.

Fish consumption advisories
The Oregon Health Authority has issued consumption guidelines for parts of the Columbia River due to high levels of mercury and/or PCBs. Fish with these chemicals look, act, smell and taste like any other fish, so caution is important.

SALMON, STEELHEAD AND SHAD
On Sunday's (6/22) effort count, there were 38 boats and 142 Oregon bank anglers from PDX to the upper end of Crims Island.
Gorge:
Weekly checking showed no catch for four bank anglers.
For shad, weekly checking showed 20 shad kept for two boats (six anglers); and 397 shad kept for 160 bank anglers.
Troutdale:
Weekly checking showed no catch for one boat (six anglers).
For shad, weekly checking showed no catch for three boats (five anglers).
Portland to Warrior Rock:
Weekly checking showed no catch for two boats (six anglers); and no catch for 10 bank anglers.
Warrior Rock to Rainier:
Weekly checking showed no catch for six boats (13 anglers); ano catch for five bank anglers.
Rainier to Lower Puget Island:
Weekly checking showed two sockeye and two steelhead kept, and three steelhead released for four boats (10 anglers); and one sockeye and one steelhead kept for 41 bank anglers.
Lower Puget Island to Tongue Point/Rocky Point
Weekly checking showed two steelhead kept for two boats (six anglers).
Bonneville Pool (Bonneville Dam upstream to The Dalles Dam):
Weekly checking showed no catch for one boat (three anglers).
The Dalles Pool (The Dalles Dam upstream to John Day Dam):
No report.
John Day Pool (Columbia River above John Day Dam and John Day Arm):
No report.
Sturgeon
Lower Columbia River (below Bonneville Dam):
Closed to retention. Weekly checking showed 22 sub-legal sized, 14 legal sized and six over-legal sized sturgeon released for four boats (16 anglers); and no catch for one bank angler.
Bonneville Pool:
Closed to retention. Weekly checking showed one sub-legal sized, 16 legal sized, and 10 over-legal sized sturgeon released for six boats (21 anglers).
The Dalles Pool:
Closed to retention. No report.
John Day Pool:
Closed for retention. Weekly checking showed two legal sized and two over-legal sized sturgeon released for one boat (four anglers).
Walleye
Lower Columbia River (below Bonneville Dam):
No report.
Bonneville Pool:
Weekly checking showed four walleye kept for three boats (four anglers).
The Dalles Pool:
Weekly checking showed no catch for four boats (eight anglers).
John Day Pool:
Weekly checking showed 45 walleye kept, and three walleye released for six boats (13 anglers).
