Welcome to the enhanced NJ Beach Monitoring Program website. In addition to providing information on water quality testing for coastal waters, this website has been expanded to include results of water quality testing for inland lakes with licensed and lifeguarded swimming beaches. Ocean, bay and coastal river beach stations with licensed and lifeguarded swimming beaches are monitored through the Cooperative Coastal Monitoring Program (). Freshwater Beach Monitoring Program stations () are subject to advisories or closings due to exceedances of bacteriological standards and may also be closed due to harmful algal blooms. Click on the map station symbols below to see testing results for each monitored beach. Also note that the state maintains the Environmental Coastal Monitoring Program (), beaches that are monitored to provide important baseline water quality data. They are not lifeguarded or open for swimming and therefore data is provided for information purposes only. The state’s Aerial Surveillance program performs remote sensing for chlorophyl and harmful algal blooms. The dropdown links below provide important details on these programs.
