Provide Input on Two Monroe Park Playground Draft Concepts
Provide Input on Two Monroe Park Playground Draft Concepts
Thank you to those who participated in our first engagement. Your responses informed two design concepts. In this second engagement, we would like your feedback on these concepts to guide a final design. Please respond by May 16, 2025.
The Monroe Park playground is approaching the end of its useful life and will be replaced. Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2026. Funding is from the Capital Improvement Plan.
Your feedback informed two draft designs. Read a summary of the feedback from the first engagement to better understand the community’s preferences for Monroe Park.
The project includes:
- ADA accessible pathways and amenities
- Two play areas for younger (age 2-5) and older (age 5-12) children
- Path to access the play area that children can also ride bikes on
- New native shade trees
- New open space
- Bioretention area to collect and treat stormwater runoff
- Seating opportunities throughout the park
- New playground safety surfacing (sand pit will be removed)
- New information kiosk
Park Expansion Note: Arlington County recently acquired a parcel at 3621 14th St. South, expanding the park. This new area is included in the draft concepts.
Engagement Notice: Please note that due to unpredictable economic factors, such as changes in material costs and market conditions, final design adjustments may be necessary after the project designs are finalized.
We will share the results of the second engagement and the final draft design later this year.
