Chukar and Quail Hunts

  • Canebrake Ecological Reserve - Junior Only Quail and Chukar Hunt, Kern County - October 18, 2025 (1710) Located off Hwy 178. The Reserve is 10mi east of Lake Isabella on north side Hwy 178.
    Hunt will take place on October 18, 2025 at 6:30 a.m. 15 hunters will be drawn. Maximum hunt party size of 3 hunters. All hunters must possess a draw issued permit, and a valid California hunting license. No walk-up’s or party members may be added after the drawings are complete.   • Canebrake Ecological Reserve - Family Quail and Chukar Hunt, Kern County -October 19, 2025 (1010) Located off Hwy 178. The Reserve is 10mi east of Lake Isabella on north side Hwy 178.
    Hunt is on October 19, 2025 at 6:30 a.m. 15 hunters will be drawn. Maximum hunt party size of 3 hunters. All hunters must possess a draw issued permit, a valid California hunting license, and all adult hunters must possess a valid upland game bird validation.   • Chimineas Junior Only Quail Hunt, Carrizo Plains ER, San Luis Obispo County – November 1, 2025 (2710).
    Notice: Cimineas Special Quail and Chukar hunts are closed due to the Madre fire. 
    Located off Hwy 166, 45 miles east of Santa Maria and 25 miles west of New Cuyama. Parking lot and entrance gate are at mile marker 45 on the north side of the highway. This hunt accomodates 15 hunters. Maximum hunting party size for this hunt is 3 hunters. This is a challenging hunt and is not recommended for first time hunters. Hunting dogs will be provided for this hunt. All hunters must possess a draw issued permit, a valid California hunting license, and all adult hunters must possess a valid upland game bird validation.   • Canada de San Vicente Ecological Reserve - Quail Hunt, San Diego County - November 15, 2025 (740)
    Hunt is on November 15, 2025 at 5:30 a.m. to noon. This hunt will accommodate 18 total hunters. Maximum hunt party size per application is 3 hunters. All hunters must possess a draw issued permit, a valid California hunting license, and all adult hunters must possess a valid upland game bird validation. ALL HUNTERS MUST BE ON THE APPLICATION AT THE TIME OF THE APPLICATION DEADLINE. No walk-up’s or additional party members or guests will be allowed at the time of the check-in. All hunters must possess a draw issued permit, a valid California hunting license, and all adult hunters must possess a valid upland game bird validation. No walk-up’s or party members may be added after the drawings are complete.     Hunt is on December 13, 2025 at 5:30 a.m to noon. This hunt will accomodate 18 hunters. Maximum hunt party size of 3 hunters. All hunters must possess a draw issued permit, a valid California hunting license, and all adult hunters must possess a valid upland game bird validation. ALL HUNTERS MUST BE ON THE APPLICATION AT THE TIME OF THE APPLICATION DEADLINE. No walk-up’s or additional party members or guests will be allowed at the time of the check-in.   • Chimineas Upland Game Hunt, Carrizo Plains ER, San Luis Obispo County – January 3rd 2026 (2010)
    Notice: Cimineas Special Quail and Chukar hunts are closed due to the Madre fire. 
    Located off Hwy 166, 45 miles east of Santa Maria and 25 miles west of New Cuyama. Parking lot and entrance gate are at mile marker 45 on the north side of the highway. The hunt is open to Quail and Rabbit hunting (further information will be given to successful applicants). This hunt accomodates 25 hunters. Maximum hunt party size of 3 hunters. All hunters must possess a draw issued permit, a valid California hunting license, and all adult hunters must possess a valid upland game bird validation.   • Chimineas Mobility Impaired Quail Hunt, Carrizo Plains ER, San Luis Obispo County – January 3rd 2026 (2910)

The maximum hunt party size is 3 hunters. All hunters must possess a draw issued permit, a valid California hunting license, and all adult hunters must possess a valid upland game bird validation.
