On Neighborhood Day, neighborhoods across Arlington organize events ranging from picnics to sporting events. A beloved Arlington tradition, Neighborhood Day brings communities together to enjoy the great outdoors (or indoors) and strengthens ties between neighbors.

Looking for a fun event to attend and not plan yourself? Arlington Public Library will be hosting a Community Picnic and Joining Fair! Grab your picnic blanket and stop by Central Library Plaza from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. for food, music, games, and an opportunity to connect with neighbors!

Here are some ideas of how to get your own party started:

  • Movie night, concert, comedy show, story time or poetry jam, scavenger hunt or a gardening/planting day.
  • Reserve a picnic shelter or field to hold a picnic or organized sporting event…how about challenging another neighborhood to kickball, softball, soccer or tennis game?
  • Host a Neighborhood WalkaboutWalkArlington has developed routes and maps for many of Arlington’s communities.
  • Support local non-profit Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) by hosting a food drive.
  • Need more ideas? Check out the Neighborhood Day Toolkit to get you started.
