Hurricane Helene Updates

Press Release
  • This is the final planned update regarding Baxter’s recovery following the impact of Hurricane Helene on our North Cove, N.C. site.

North Cove Strong

DEERFIELD, Ill. -

Baxter’s North Cove manufacturing site was significantly impacted by the rain and storm surge in late September 2024 from Hurricane Helene, which was unprecedented in Western North Carolina and resulted in water flooding the facility.

From day one, supporting our employees in the impacted communities, bringing the North Cove facility back online and helping address ongoing supply of products for patient care were our top priorities – and Baxter committed to sparing no resources in tackling them all.

Today, we are proud to announce that our inventory levels are restored and therefore allocations have been removed for virtually all IV Solutions product codes manufactured at North Cove. This update follows the February announcement that North Cove had returned to pre-hurricane production levels, less than five months after the storm.

“I am incredibly proud of the Baxter team worldwide who stepped up for their colleagues, our patients and customers, in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene,” said Heather Knight, Baxter’s chief operating officer. “To our customers in the U.S. and around the world, you can always count on Baxter’s commitment to our mission to Save and Sustain lives, in support of our customers and the patients they serve.”

Baxter's comprehensive recovery was made possible by the dedication and resilience of the North Cove and broader Baxter teams, working in coordination with FDA and other government agencies.

Inquiries related to peritoneal dialysis (PD) solutions manufactured at North Cove should be directed to Vantive, https://www.vantive.com/contact-support/contact-us.
