HUDSON, Ohio -- The city of Hudson has launched a new program called SAFER Hudson to help emergency responders better assist senior citizens and residents with medical disabilities during emergency calls.

When an emergency response to a home is necessary, it is crucial for responders to have as much information as possible about the situation they will be encountering. SAFER Hudson enables seniors and those with disabilities to share key details about their medical conditions and requirements, just in case emergency personnel should ever be called to the scene. This allows first responders to more effectively assess and address the patient’s needs upon arrival.

That information may include hearing or visual impairments, use of oxygen in the home, physical disabilities, pets in the home, vehicles on the property or any other information deemed important for emergency personnel to know.

Family members are also encouraged to help their loved ones who live alone or have medical concerns to participate in the SAFER Hudson program.

To learn more about the SAFER Hudson program and to fill out a request form, interested individuals can visit the city’s website at www.hudson.oh.us/SAFERHudson. The form is valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
