Kirklees Libraries

Define description

We are: A world of books, reading and so much more.

Kirklees Libraries have public libraries in 24 locations across Kirklees. Join for free and borrow books, eBooks, eAudio and more. We offer support for people to get online and run events and activities for all ages. We also provide a Home Library Service for residents who find it difficult to get to their local library. You can ring any library on 01484 414868.

As a key cultural venue in a local community, we aim to provide opportunities for children and families to participate in and experience high quality cultural activities. We aim to bring to Kirklees Libraries inspiring artists and practitioners, allowing families extraordinary opportunities at low or no cost. We also work with artists to create programmes to support vulnerable children and young people. We start with books, words and reading and develop programmes which explore finding your voice, developing empathy, supporting aspirations or learning a new skill.

We are a welcoming place for everyone in our communities. A place where people can access local services and advice, learn new skills, immerse themselves in history, sing songs and music with children, knit and natter, socialise with friends, study, meet new people or simply enjoy the daily papers or borrow a book! We provide the facilities and a warm welcome.

Library Adventures

Welcome to Library Adventures, a free, year-round reading for pleasure programme for children aged 4-11.

Children can take part at any library in Kirklees. All you need to join the Library Adventures journey, is a Kirklees library card.

There are separate versions of the Library Adventures pack, one for older children and another for younger readers. Just pick the pack which best suits your Library Adventurer when you arrive at the library.

There are six themes, chosen by children across Kirklees, and each one will appear at a library near you at some time over the next twelve months. Follow the links below for reading lists and books to help you on your way.
