SSIS Essentials eLearning

SSIS Essentials is a collection of eLearning courses designed to provide caseworkers with an introduction to basic navigation and functionality of core SSIS functions. Learning is self-paced and experiential. Courses can be completed using any internet connected computer through TrainLink.

Registration

Registration is through TrainLink. Trainees who have not registered for or taken a course on TrainLink must register for a unique key. Follow the steps on the Unique Key Request Form page to get a unique key.

To find the SSIS Essentials courses from TrainLink, select Children’s Services from the list of Learning Centers, click the Course Catalog, and search under the category SSIS Learning Activities. You can find the courses by searching the word “Essentials” or using the corresponding course code “SSISES(course number)” where the course number is 101-106. When you find the course you wish to complete, click Start Course.

Included Courses

The following courses make up the SSIS Essentials curriculum. Workers are not required to take the courses in order. However, we do recommend following the order below.

SSIS Essentials 101 – Introducing SSIS

This course will introduce learners to the initial SSIS screen as well as other basic information about SSIS. Topics include logging on to SSIS, initial screen elements, and indicators on other screens. Course completion is based on progress through the content and is not scored.

SSIS Essentials 102 – Person Search

This course will introduce learners to the Person Search tool in SSIS. In addition to an overview of the tool, learners will learn terminology related to searching for individuals in SSIS. Course completion is based on progress through the content and is not scored.

SSIS Essentials 103 – Intake Search

This course introduces learners to the Intake Search tool in SSIS and includes a brief overview of terminology defining cases, workgroups, and intakes. Course completion is based on progress through the course. The course includes an activity that must be completed to receive full credit for the course.

SSIS Essentials 104 – Introducing Intakes

This course introduces learners to the initial intake screen and its components. Learners also learn about the different folders and nodes available in an intake through the lens of a Child Protection intake. Course completion is based on progress through the content and is not scored.

SSIS Essentials 105 – Workgroup Search

This course introduces learners to the Workgroup Search tool in SSIS. Learners will learn the differences between a workgroup and a case as they appear in SSIS. Course completion is based on progress through the content and is not scored.

SSIS Essentials 106 – Chronology

This course introduces learners to the Chronology folder in SSIS. Learners will learn to differentiate between activities, case notes, contacts, and Time Notes. The course includes an activity that must be completed to receive full credit for the course.

SSIS Essentials technical requirements

  • An internet-connected computer, with at least a 1mb internet connection
  • Windows 7 or higher (courses have not been tested with Mac OS)
  • Internet Explorer 9 or higher (Chrome and Firefox work, but may appear differently)
  • Minimum monitor resolution of 1024x768
  • Speakers or headphones (if using audio – audio is NOT required for the course)
  • Microsoft Word
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
