SOPA Reports
The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed
actions for Boise National Forest that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental
analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become
aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your
early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.
Locatable minerals exploration. Proposal to drill 259 new exploratory holes to retrieve core samples. Project will construction of about 13.3 miles of new temporary road and use of about 4.7 miles existing unauthorized road as temporary roads.
Fully replace five existing trail bridges over Lime Creek, Elk Creek, Poison Creek, and Johnson Creek as well as relocate and re-emplace an existing washed-out trail bridge over Roaring River and realign several segments of the Roaring River trail.
The period for public submission of objections to the project has closed. A final decision will not be made until after the requirements of 36 CFR 218.12, Timing of Project Decision, have been met.
Multiple analyses will be conducted to address hazard trees along NFS roads and trails and restore portions of the landscape affected by the fires through implementing a variety of post-fire management activities.
The Forest Service is considering amending its land management plans to address new and evolving issues arising since implementing sage-grouse plans in 2015. This project is in cooperation with the USDI Bureau of Land Management.
Bureau of Reclamation has completed a Draft EIS for the Boise River Basin Feasibility Study. The USFS is a cooperating agency. To accomplish this project the USFS would need to modify a Forest Roads and Trails Act Easement.
The purpose of the of this Federal action is to respond to the operator's PoO for mineral exploration as necessary to meet Forest Service regulations within the context of federal mining laws
Address impacts from the 2024 Lava Fire by implementing hazard tree mitigation, salvage, reforestation/revegetation, recreation and access management, road/infrastructure maintenance/repairs, and range management activities.
This project proposes to repair the Rice Creek. The work would include earthwork to regrade and reshape the existing road into a series of fords at all drainages.
Use a variety of treatment methods to control and contain noxious and invasive weeds within the South Fork Salmon River Subbasin. Separate decisions will be issued for the Payette (May 2007) and Boise National Forests (February 2010).
The Forest Supervisor has published the Revised Environmental Assessment and Draft Decision Notice for the Sage Hen Project. This project is now in a 45-day administrative objection period.

The purpose of the Snowball Project is to address the safety risk caused by hazard trees along open National Forest System (NFS) roads and trails in an efficient and economic manner and restore portions of the landscape affected by fire.
The Forest is processing a plan of operations for open pit mining, processing, new road construction, utility upgrades, reclamation, and restoration at the Stibnite mine site.
The Upper Mores Project is being proposed to restore ecosystem processes and functions that foster landscape diversity and achieve desired vegetation conditions. Much of the project area lies within the Southwest Idaho Fireshed.
