WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council

The WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council (Council) is composed of elected representatives from 28 local government partners (26 cities and King and Snohomish counties), and representatives from community organizations, business, environmental interests and state and federal agencies. The Salmon Recovery Council oversees implementation of the science-based Chinook Salmon Conservation Plan for the Lake Washington/Cedar/Sammamish Watershed. The watershed, also known as Water Resource Inventory Area (WRIA) 8, runs from the Puget Sound nearshore and inlands from the north end of Elliott Bay to south Everett, and east to the Bear Creek basin, the Issaquah Creek basin, and upper Cedar River basin.

Management Committee

The Management Committee is a subset of WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council membership. The committee is charged with administrative duties on the Salmon Recovery Council's behalf, in particular, oversight of the cost-shared WRIA 8 staff team, annual budget and work plan, and Council membership. Implementation Technical Committee

The Implementation Technical Committee is a policy and technical focused subcommittee. The committee informs ongoing salmon recovery planning and implementation in the watershed. Participants include policy, planning, and science/technical staff from local government, community organizations, and state agency partners. Technical Committee

The Technical Committee is a science and monitoring focused subcommittee. The committee provides technical input on salmon recovery and supports the Lake Washington, Cedar, Sammamish Salmon Recovery Council on monitoring, assessment, and adaptive management of the WRIA 8 Chinook Salmon Conservation Plan. Participants include technical staff from local government, community organizations, and state agency partners. Grant Review Committee

The WRIA 8 Grant Review Committee reviews applications for annual WRIA 8 grant funds supporting habitat protection and restoration projects, monitoring and assessment activities, and outreach and education activities. The Committee develops funding recommendations for the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council consideration. The Committee consists of representatives from the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council, as well as local government, community organizations, and state agency partners.
