Boston Whaler 17' Boat. Repairs may be needed: **Scrap Condition. Working condition unknown & not guaranteed.

The vessel's rails, center console and controls, battery, outboard, and other electronics and controls have all been removed and are not available for sale. The vessel has documented water saturation into hull structure at ~600 lbs (75 Gallons) determined by weighing vessel. Hull was drained of ~300 lbs (37 Gallons) of water by drilling through under water body FRP structure by NOAA personnel allowing foam core to drain over an extended period. Water entrapment in Boston Whalers is not completely repairable due to the construction of the vessel. Numerous holes, scrapes, and cracks have caused the hull to be compromised beyond repair. Vessel carrying capacity has been grossly reduced and is unsafe to operate under any conditions. The SBEX recommended removing this vessel from service and scrapping it for disposal; however, it is agency policy to offer all boats for sale to the public. ***INSPECTION HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. SOLD AS IS.***.

WHY IS THE VESSEL BEING DISPOSED OF?

The small boat examination (SBEX) in 2015 determined this vessel is unsafe to operate and is not completely repairable. The recommendation at that time was to scrap the vessel for disposal. SBEXes are conducted by certified marine surveyors.
