Rapid City Man Sentenced to Over Three Years in Federal Prison for Failure to Appear

RAPID CITY - United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced today that U.S. District Judge Camela C. Theeler has sentenced a Rapid City, South Dakota, man convicted of Failure to Appear. The sentencing took place on March 31, 2025.

Patrick Brewer, Sr., 49, was sentenced to three years and one month in federal prison, to run consecutively to a 46-month sentence for a 2024 assault charge. Brewer was also ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Brewer was indicted for Failure to Appear by a federal grand jury in August 2024. He pleaded guilty on January 22, 2025.

Brewer, who was sentenced in August 2024 for a domestic violence assault, was ordered by the judge to self-surrender for his custody term. Brewer did not report on the designated date, prompting a months-long search for him. He was found in December 2024 by the U.S. Marshals Service. In sentencing Brewer to an additional 37 months in custody, the district court denounced Brewer’s disrespect for the law and disregard for the Court’s order to self-surrender. Brewer will now serve a total term of 83 months in federal prison.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Lindrooth prosecuted the case.

Brewer was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
