BTS Data Release: Transportation Producer Price Index – April 2025 The transportation equipment Producer Price Index (PPI) indicates the changes in transportation equipment prices faced by transportation providers, and any increase, increases providers costs. PPI shows that prices increased for freight transportation and equipment 1.7% in April 2025 from April 2024. BTS Data Release: March 2025 Freight Transportation Services Index (TSI) Down 1.1% from the Previous Month and Up 0.4% from March 2024 https://lnkd.in/e8w5sJur TSI, which is based on the amount of freight carried by the for-hire transportation industry, fell 1.1% in March from February, falling after a one-month increase. The level of for-hire freight shipments in March measured by the Freight TSI was 137.0.

BTS Data Release: U.S. Cargo and Passenger Airlines Gained 4,231 Jobs in March 2025 https://lnkd.in/egEWNAby U.S. airline industry (passenger and cargo airlines combined) employment increased to 1,008,949 workers in March 2025, 4,231 (0.42%) more workers than in February 2025 (1,004,718). Passenger airlines: 546,947 workers (+2,791 employees) Cargo airlines: 457,877 workers (+1,525 employees)

BTS Data Release: Transportation Consumer Price Index – April 2025 https://lnkd.in/ethgehSj The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all transportation goods and services fell 1.5% from April 2024 to April 2025. Per CPI, transportation dampened the 2.3% increase in the price of all goods and services, by 10.0%. Motor vehicle insurance contributed the most to inflation, rising 6.4% year-over-year and contributing 7.9% to the annual change in the price of all goods and services.

BTS Data Release: Motor Fuel Prices – April 2025 https://lnkd.in/ebckcRsg In April 2025, the average price for regular motor gasoline was $3.17; up 2.4% from March 2025. The April 2025 price for regular motor gasoline was down 12.2% from April 2024. Diesel no. 2 rose to $3.57 in April 2025; down 0.5% from March 2025. Diesel fuel prices in April 2025 were down 10.9% from April 2024.

BTS Data Release: U.S. Airlines’ March 2025 Fuel Cost per Gallon down 0.5% and Aviation Fuel Consumption up 18.4% from February 2025 https://lnkd.in/enF9bdWu The cost per gallon of fuel in March 2025 ($2.43) was down 1.3 cents (0.5%) from February 2025 ($2.45). Total March 2025 fuel expenditure ($3.92B) was up 17.8% from February 2025 ($3.33B). Year-over-year changes in fuel consumption and cost for March 2025 includes a 0.5% increase in domestic fuel consumption, a 12.2% decrease in domestic fuel cost, and a 12.7% decrease in cost per gallon. Domestic fuel consumption increased 17.8% from February 2025 to March 2025, while increasing 4.4% from March 2019. The increase in fuel consumption reflects growth in airline passenger travel over the same period. The March 2025 fuel cost and consumption numbers indicating U.S. scheduled service airlines used 1.609 billion gallons of fuel, 18.4% more fuel than in February 2025 (1.359 billion gallons).

BTS Data Release: April 2025 U.S. Transportation Sector Unemployment (3.6%) Falls Below the April 2024 Level (4.7%) And the Pre-Pandemic April 2019 Level (3.7%) https://lnkd.in/eJKKCyDD The unemployment rate in the U.S. transportation sector was 3.6% (not seasonally adjusted) in April 2025. Unemployment in the transportation sector was lower than overall unemployment (3.9% or 0.3 percentage points above the transportation sector rate). Seasonally adjusted, employment in the transportation and warehousing sector rose to 6,794,500 in April 2025 — up 0.4% from the previous month and up 2.3% from April 2024.
