We laughed, danced, cried, honored, celebrated, remembered, and above all ... unveiled our Awaken journey. We made history at the Indiana Department Of Child Services today with the roll-out of a brand new mission and vision, and added a purpose statement to complete the "MVP" approach to servant leadership and public service as part of Public Service Recognition Week. This profound shift for the agency is designed to re-focus DCS on a purpose-driven mindset as we champion Indiana's future by protecting our most vulnerable. Our purpose statement is a call to action for every public servant on the team: "Ignite hope. Cultivate joy." I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead this team. The future of Indiana's child welfare system took a historic step forward today.

In honor of #FosterCareMonth, the Dekalb County DCS office delivered appreciation bags to foster parents in their community. Appreciation bags were put together through staff donations and included items such as family activities, food and other helpful supplies for families.

"Under Governor Braun's leadership, we are reinventing the foster care experience in Indiana. It begins in earnest today, aligned with the launch of Foster Care Appreciation Month at the Indiana Department Of Child Services. Here's the video message we released statewide: https://lnkd.in/g-dh_efq. People often ask about my vision for DCS. Well, here's my vision for Indiana foster care: when we get it right, every foster parent will genuinely feel like a critical partner whose role in the child welfare system is unmatched. And we'll have so many licensed foster parents who have opened their homes and their lives to our most vulnerable that every child who needs immediate placement will have just that." - DCS Director Adam Krupp
