You can count on your county’s public health staff to have your back—they’re your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues. Every day, Minnesota’s local public health workers cooperate with other sectors and with members of the community to shape the ways that help communities thrive. Kanabec County’s Better Together Coalition brings together everyone from youth and parents to businesses, law enforcement, health care and more, so that the entire community is working together to make the county a place where it’s easier for youth to avoid drugs and to care for their mental health. https://lnkd.in/gXA2KwMy

MDH will be at the Twin Cities Pride festival all weekend long, located in the Green Section on the east side of the park—right by the playgrounds and next to our partners at Red Door Clinic. Stop by for fun games, great prizes, and something for the whole family to enjoy!

CMV is a common virus that can be passed from a pregnant person to their unborn baby, potentially causing long-term health concerns. Before and during pregnancy, reduce your risk– especially if you're often around young children, who are most likely to spread the virus. Avoid children’s saliva and urine with these tips: 1️. Wash your hands often with soap and water. 2️. Don’t put things in your mouth that have been in a child’s mouth. 3️. Don’t share food, drinks, utensils, or straws. 4️. Kiss children on the forehead, not the lips. If you are pregnant or planning to be, talk to your doctor about CMV and learn more at health.mn.gov/cmv. #LetsTalkAboutCMV

The practice of routinely screening newborns for medical conditions began in 1964 with just one target: phenylketoneuria (PKU). In the 60 years since, newborn screening has expanded to more than 60 conditions in Minnesota, helping hundreds of babies get early diagnoses for treatable conditions. https://lnkd.in/gHkTa_au
