About us
We administer Oregon tax laws, support partners’ programs, and act as a central debt collection agency for other state agencies, boards, commissions, and local governments. Administration of the department’s tax programs generates $26.5 billion for Oregon every biennium and supports our partners’ collection of an additional $15.6 billion in revenue for Oregon. Oregon tax dollars pay for services such as K-12 education, early learning services, community colleges, higher education, Medicaid, food benefits, senior services, mental health services, child protective services, hospitals, police, fire, Department of Justice, corrections facilities, juvenile corrections, highways, transit programs, forestry services, library services, agriculture, sewers systems, and parks.
