We support President Donald J. Trump’s executive order defending women from gender ideology extremism and restoring biological truth to the federal government. USCIS will only issue documents bearing a person's sex as listed on the birth certificate issued at his or her birth.

Thanks to our diligent Houston team, an alien appearing for an interview was apprehended for serious pending criminal charges, including felony assault with a deadly weapon in Oklahoma. We're proud to support U.S. Department of Homeland Security and partner with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in our shared mission to uphold public safety and safeguard the American people.

Of all the ways to kick off #MilitaryAppreciationMonth, nothing tops military #ServiceMembers taking the Oath of Allegiance to become #NewUSCitizens. In a naturalization ceremony held in conjunction with U.S. Coast Guard boot camp graduation, USCIS’ Associate Director of Field Operations Michael Valverde administered the Oath of Allegiance to four USCG members on Friday, May 2nd, at USCG Training Center (TRACEN) Cape May, N.J. Originally hailing from Brazil, Russia, Nigeria and China, these four new citizens were joined by family and friends from across the country to celebrate both their new citizenship and their graduation from Coast Guard recruits to Coast Guard members. As U.S. Department of Homeland Security components, USCIS and USCG both have critical national security missions, especially when it comes to immigration enforcement, public safety, and safeguarding our nation’s borders. In addition to working together to keep our nation safe, USCIS and USCG also work together to support the application process for U.S. Citizenship through naturalization for active duty and reserve Coast Guard service members. While at Training Center Cape May (TRACEN), Coast Guard members can seek and apply for citizenship as part of their Basic Training, where they receive application support from TRACEN’s Staff Judge Advocate team. Eligible candidates for citizenship also have the opportunity to study for and conduct their USCIS naturalization interview and test while assigned to Cape May. Citizenship candidates who successfully pass their English language and civics test, and have their N-400, Application for Naturalization approved by USCIS are then scheduled to take their Oath of Allegiance at a naturalization ceremony in Cape May, frequently held in conjunction with their boot camp graduation. Thanks to this new partnership, more than 150 USCG members have taken their oath and naturalized in Cape May over the past year. Like USCG’s TRACEN, many military installations have a designated USCIS liaison to help eligible service members with the naturalization application process. These liaisons are typically assigned to a specific office (for example, an installation’s community service center, family liaison office or Staff Judge Advocate).
