DUTIES:
Investment Management Intern

  • Plan and complete work assignments on time in support of IT budget data calls, SLA and investment planning.
  • Collect and analyze relevant information.
  • Communicate relevant and accurate information, clearly and concisely during formal or informal meetings.
  • Collaborate with others to accomplish goals.
  • Contribute to team efforts.
  • Use various enterprise tools and technology to prepare and share documents.

DUTIES: Enterprise Architecture
  • The work also consists of administrative related tasks in support of IT projects to include, AI, Machine Learning, research, drafting documents, as well as design and project management support.

DUTIES: Enterprise Service Desk (ESD)

Customer Support and Training
  • Support Tier 2 desktop IT services for internal users.- Respond to and resolve customer service requests for IT support.
  • Provide customer training on systems, applications, and equipment.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training materials and documentation for end users.
Technical Operations
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain customer software.
  • Assist with managing and maintaining IT asset inventories.
  • Contribute to IT modernization initiatives, including network equipment refreshes and MS Teams implementation.
Service Improvement and Knowledge Management
  • Perform knowledge-centered service improvements and enhance the customer support experience.
  • Participate in knowledge-centered service improvements and enhance customer support experiences.
Professional Development
  • Gain hands-on experience in IT service management and federal IT operations.

  • Must be at least 16 years old and eligible to work in the United States of America (USA).
  • Must be actively enrolled or accepted for enrollment at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution at the time of selection and must maintain such enrollment throughout the duration of this program.
  • Must be in good academic standing as defined by the agency as 2.0 GPA or higher.
  • For minors aged 16 or 17: If selected for a student volunteer position, you must also submit a work permit prior to coming onboard.

Qualifications

Investment Management:

  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a variety of audiences

  • A working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft: Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
Students must have an academic background in information technology, business, or a related field.

Enterprise Architecture: This internship provides excellent professional experience for students who are seeking or pursuing Computer Science, Data Science and Engineering degrees. As an intern in this role, you'll have an opportunity to leverage your degree experience.
In this role, students will perform a variety of general information technology duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining customer software.
  • Implementing instructions, policies, procedures, and standards for information technology (IT) programs, services, operations, and/or customer support.
  • Performing System Analysis for applications.
  • Responding to and resolving customer requests for services.
  • Assist and prepare design documents on assigned projects.
  • Assist with day-to-day administrative operations by performing IT engineering related tasks or other functions.
  • Assist in project oversight.
  • Providing customer training on systems, applications, and equipment; and the work also consists of administrative related tasks in support of IT projects to include, AI, Machine Learning, research, drafting documents, as well as design and project management support.

Enterprise Help Desk:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution.
  • Interest in Information Technology, Customer Support, or a related field.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Commitment to learning and supporting IT modernization efforts.

Education

To be eligible for this unpaid student volunteer opportunity, you must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment on at least a half-time basis at a qualifying educational institution, for the purpose of obtaining a diploma, degree, or certificate. Current students must have a grade-point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. If selected, you must maintain a 2.0 or higher-grade point average on a 4.0 scale throughout the duration of the program. You must submit with your application a current academic transcript and/or other official documentation from your academic institution demonstrating your eligibility for selection.

If you do not submit sufficient academic documentation necessary to demonstrate that you meet the eligibility described in this announcement, your application will be deemed incomplete, and you will be ineligible for further consideration for this vacancy.

An academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university and vocational or technical institution.

Graduating seniors from high school, college or graduate school who are not continuing their education will not be considered eligible.

Additional Conditions of Employment

  • A Student Volunteer must receive academic credit towards graduation, or must receive a third-party stipend, grant, or other equivalent financial aid for the assignment and the amount must be equivalent to $15.00 per hour, or the minimum wage rate for the geographic area in which the work will be performed, whichever is higher.
  • Must have a high school diploma or have an equivalent General Education Development certificate, and are accepted and enrolled on at least a half-time basis at a qualifying post-secondary educational institution (e.g., junior or community college, four-year college/university, graduate school, or vocational training institution);
  • Appointees must sign a DOL Student Volunteer Agreement form, DL1-6082.

A Student Volunteer is not an employee of the Federal Government for any purposes other than injury compensation and laws relating to the Federal Tort Claims Acts. Therefore, service time is not creditable for leave accrual or any other federal employee benefits. Students are not eligible for noncompetitive conversion to positions in the Federal service.

Student Volunteers are eligible to receive transit benefits.
