Montana is home to the last population of native Arctic grayling in the lower 48 states. This fish species can be found in the Centennial Valley, specifically in Red Rock Lake and Creek and the upper Big Hole River area. Unfortunately, due to challenges related to overwintering in the Centennial Valley, the number of Arctic grayling has declined. Montana FWP continues to manage and monitor these fish to preserve the graylings in their natural habitat.
