In partnership with the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD), a city health official demonstrates how to administer naloxone in the event of an overdose. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that, when administered, can help prevent an overdose. One of the main factors that can lead someone to experience substance use disorder is poor mental health. Substance use disorder is an issue impacting millions of Americans, including thousands in Maryland. 964 people died from opioid-related overdoses in Baltimore City in 2020, nearly triple the number of homicides during that same period of time.
