Part of a healthy work environment is knowing that your employer is there to support your needs. As of 2023, there were more than 7.5 million individuals with disabilities employed by U.S. companies, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. To attract the best talent, companies need to ensure that all employees have the proper accommodations—strong benefits, accessible workspaces and opportunities for career advancement all tie into what makes a good employer.

With this in mind, Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group are happy to partner in ranking America's Greatest Workplaces for People With Disabilities 2024/25.

In its first year, the ranking includes 250 companies that have excelled in fostering a positive workplace for individuals with disabilities. Companies are categorized by the number of employees—large, mid-sized and small—and assigned a star rating, with five stars being the highest.

These ratings are based on more than 140,000 company reviews from over 24,000 employees with disabilities. They also consider data from media monitoring and desk research analyzing press, social media and publicly available documents relevant to six key performance indicators. Some recognizable names on this year's list include Bank of America, Boeing and IBM.

We hope this list helps guide you to great companies, whether you're a job applicant, client or consumer.

METHODOLOGY

More than 7.5 million persons with disabilities were employed in U.S. companies in 2023. Employees with disabilities can bring immense value to companies through their unique perspectives, diverse skill sets, and resilience in overcoming challenges. However, individuals with disabilities still encounter barriers in the workplace, including inaccessible facilities, lack of adequate accommodations, and negative stereotypes. By actively supporting employees with disabilities, companies not only promote diversity and inclusion but also tap into a valuable pool of talent who contribute to driving innovation and business success.

The methodology for America's Greatest Workplaces for People with Disabilities 2024/25 is based on a five-stage evaluation.

The first phase was a pre-study survey that interviewed HR professionals to identify current and future employee satisfaction drivers.

The second phase was the main employee survey among U.S. employees who reviewed employers they were familiar with. The independent study is based on >24,000 employees with disabilities who provided more than 140,000 company reviews collected in 2022 and 2023.

The third phase was an elaborate desk research project in which we collected overall 6 KPIs which are relevant for employees with disabilities in the workplace (e.g. official programs for the disabled, relevant reviews and information from social media platforms).

In the fourth phase, we applied media monitoring, reviewing all published press of the past 24 months (12/9/2021 – 12/10/2023) of all recognized companies to identify potential legal disputes around the workplace.

The fifth step was the validation step. We calculated an individual company score based on our scoring model. The best companies with 500 to more than 5,000 employees have been recognized as "America's Greatest Workplaces for People with Disabilities 2024/25".
